About CheckSpeedPro
CheckSpeedPro is a free, ad-supported internet speed test. It measures your download speed, upload speed, ping and jitter in about half a minute, and it is built so the number you see reflects your actual broadband connection rather than the limits of whoever is hosting the test.
What we do
Speed tests are easy to build badly. If the measurement server sits on a single machine in one country, the result you get is your connection to that machine — which tells you more about the distance between you and the server than about the speed of your line.
Ookla’s Speedtest.net solves this by letting you pick a server from a list of thousands. We use the same underlying idea with a different source: Cloudflare’s global anycast network, which places test endpoints in more than 300 cities. Your browser is always handed the node closest to it, so the path being measured is short and the number reflects your own ISP throughput. This is why results here and results on Speedtest.net usually agree.
How a test runs
- Ping and jitter. We send a short burst of small requests and discard the first couple as a warm-up. The reported ping is the best round-trip time left after the outliers are removed, and jitter is the average change between consecutive round trips.
- Download. Six streams each pull a chunk of data in parallel for up to fifteen seconds, with a hard cap on total bytes transferred. The result is the true average — total bytes multiplied by eight, divided by the elapsed time — rather than a momentary peak.
- Upload. The same approach in reverse: six streams post a randomised blob while we count the bytes actually accepted by the network, so the reported figure is the throughput your line really sustained.
- Result. Your numbers appear on the gauge and the results panel, and are added to the shared list of recent runs so you can compare against other people on the same network.
What you get
Four measurements, one run
Download speed, upload speed, ping and jitter are all captured in a single test that takes roughly 30 seconds.
Six parallel streams
Each phase opens up to six concurrent connections, which is what actually saturates a real broadband line — a single connection rarely does.
Nearest edge, automatically
Tests run against Cloudflare's global anycast network, so the server is always close to you and the number reflects your ISP, not our uplink.
No account, no app, no extension

A note on accuracy
A speed test measures the connection at one moment, on one server, over one protocol. Wi-Fi signal strength, background downloads, VPN or proxy use, and an overloaded server can all move the result. Run the test twice on a wired connection with everything else paused and the two numbers should agree closely. We do not round or adjust results to make them look better.
CheckSpeedPro is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ookla, Cloudflare, Google, or any internet service provider. Reported figures are measurements, not guarantees of your plan’s provisioned speed.
