Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
This policy explains what information CheckSpeedPro collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to https://www.checkspeedpro.com and to the pages linked from it.
1. Who we are
CheckSpeedPro is a free, ad-supported internet speed test. We operate it so that anyone can quickly check their download speed, upload speed, ping and jitter. We are not an internet service provider and we do not sell, trade or rent your personal information. Questions about this policy can be sent to admin@checkspeedpro.com.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Speed test data you generate
When you run a speed test, we record the results in our database together with the time of the run. Specifically, this includes:
- Download speed, upload speed, ping (latency) and jitter, in the units shown on the results panel.
- The identifier of the edge node that served the test (for example the Cloudflare data centre code and city).
- The date and time the test was run.
- The IP address the test was run from. This is read from the network request and is used to enforce the daily test rate limit (by default 50 tests per IP address per day), to detect automated abuse of the test, and to display the connection panel.
These records are stored on our servers so that the Recent runs panel can show recent activity and so that we can publish aggregate, anonymous statistics about connection performance. IP addresses are not shown to other visitors and are not published in that panel.
2.2 Information you provide directly
You can run a speed test without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, postal address, phone number, or payment details, and the speed test does not require you to sign in.
Separately, administrators of this website sign in to a private admin panel. When they do, we store their email address, a display name, an account role, the time of their last sign-in, and a one-way salted hash of their password. Plain-text passwords are never stored. Administrative actions (for example changing site settings or publishing an ad campaign) are written to an audit log together with the acting administrator’s email address.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our web server records standard request information — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, response status, referrer and user agent — for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-91X78LM7BH) to understand aggregate usage: page views, approximate country and city, device and browser type, and referring sites. Google may also derive an advertising identifier from this data. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. - Advertising. We use Google AdSense (publisher ID
ca-pub-6499869090099196) to display advertisements on this site. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads. See section 5.
2.4 Third-party services that receive your data during a test
To make the measurement fast and geographically accurate, the test is served by Cloudflare’s global anycast network. Your browser downloads test data from speed.cloudflare.com and requests your nearest edge location from cdn-cgi/trace. Cloudflare therefore receives your IP address as part of serving those requests, and handles that data under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. If Cloudflare endpoints are unreachable from your network, the test falls back to our own server endpoints, in which case only this website handles the transfer.
Your IP address is also visible to our hosting and database providers as part of the normal operation of the site. Their handling of it is governed by their own privacy policies.
3. How we use the information
- To measure and display your download, upload, ping and jitter.
- To show your connection details and the nearest edge node serving your test.
- To display recent test activity and to publish aggregate, non-identifying performance statistics.
- To enforce rate limits, prevent automated abuse, and keep the service available.
- To understand how the site is used so that we can improve it, using Google Analytics.
- To display advertising and to measure its performance.
- To meet legal, security and compliance obligations.
We do not use the speed test data to build advertising profiles of individual visitors, and we do not sell or share it with data brokers.
4. Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. We do not set any cookies of our own for tracking. The following cookies may be set on your device by this site and by the third-party services it embeds:
| Provider | Cookies | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | _ga, _ga_* | Distinguishes visitors and sessions for aggregate reporting. |
| Google AdSense / DoubleClick | IDE, DSID, RUL, test_cookie, __gads, __gpi, _gcl_au | Serves, selects and measures advertisements, including limiting the number of times an ad is shown to you. |
| Cloudflare | __cf_bm and related | Bot and abuse protection on the edge that serves the speed test. |
5. Advertising and third-party vendors
This site displays ads supplied by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices. For more on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google’s Privacy & Terms page.
Advertising opt-out instructions are also available for the following industry bodies:
If you are in the United Kingdom, the ICO’s guidance on online advertising applies. If you are in a member state of the European Economic Area, you can also use the GDPR cookie consent banner provided by your local data protection authority to manage your preferences.
Our authorised sellers are listed in our ads.txt file, which is served from this domain at /ads.txt.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that are needed to run the site, each of which is bound by its own privacy terms:
- Google — for advertising (AdSense) and analytics. Google may use the data it collects in accordance with its own privacy policies, and may treat it as its own.
- Cloudflare — as the edge network that serves the speed test and the site.
- Our hosting and database providers — for the infrastructure required to serve the site and store test results.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety and security of the site, our users or the public.
7. Data retention
Speed test records are retained for as long as they are needed to operate the recent-results panel and to publish aggregate statistics, and we may delete older records at any time. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ own retention settings. When you ask us to delete the records associated with your IP address, we remove them from the database.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, or to ask what data we hold about you, email admin@checkspeedpro.com. We will respond within 30 days.
European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (GDPR): You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — for example the ICO in the United Kingdom. Our legal basis for processing is legitimate interests (operating and securing the service and understanding its use) and, where relevant, your consent for advertising and analytics cookies. Because we do not collect special-category data and do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, we do not currently run a data protection impact assessment.
California (CCPA/CPRA): California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion, to have inaccurate information corrected, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Accordingly, we do not offer a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on this site — but you can still exercise these rights by emailing us, and you can opt out of personalised ads at Google Ads Settings. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.
9. Children’s privacy (COPPA)
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the applicable threshold), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. We comply with the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and with comparable requirements elsewhere. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at admin@checkspeedpro.com and we will delete it.
10. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords for administrator accounts are stored as salted one-way hashes, database access is restricted to the server, and administrative actions are logged. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information.
11. International transfers
Our hosting, database and analytics providers operate globally, so information may be processed in countries other than your own. Those providers rely on their own transfer mechanisms, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect the data.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or its providers change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and the updated version will always be published on this page.
13. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or about how we handle your information, contact us at admin@checkspeedpro.com.
